Sydney Sweeney's Spider-Woman & Dakota Johnson's Madame Web Come To Life In Spider-Man Spin-Off Fan Poster

Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeny become Marvel's Madame Web and Spider-Woman respectively in new fan art for the upcoming Spider-Man spinoff movie.

SUMMARY

  •  Sony's Spider-Man Universe is taking an interesting turn with the upcoming Madame Web film, focusing on one of Spider-Man's allies rather than a villain.
  •  Dakota Johnson will headline as Madame Web, with fan art imagining her in the iconic costume alongside Sydney Sweeney as Spider-Woman.
  •  The movie will potentially feature an early 2000s setting, time travel, and explore the multiverse, with actors such as Adam Scott and Emma Roberts rumored to play young versions of Ben and Mary Parker.

New fan art for Madame Web imagines what Dakota Johnson might look like as the Marvel heroine alongside Sydney Sweeney's Spider-Woman. Sony's Spider-Man Universe of movies will be taking an interesting turn in 2024 when the new Madame Web movie finally arrives in theaters, marking the latest spinoff film based on the web-crawler's mythology. However, this will be the first movie from that franchise to focus on one of Spider-Man's allies rather than one of his villains, as it follows one of the more ambiguous characters in Marvel Comics.

Johnson will be headlining Madame Web, which finished principal photography earlier this year and despite the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes, the movie is still on track to be released in February 2024. With less than a year away, Sony Pictures has yet to release any footage for Madame Web, leaving the world to speculate what they have in store with this movie.

BenSolo_Cup, who is a graphic designer, recently shared artwork of what they think Dakota's Madame Web will look like in her infamous costume. The fan art also features Sweeney as Spider-Woman, as she will be playing the Julia Carpenter iteration of the Marvel heroine. BenSolo_Cup's Madame Web art also includes Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland's respective versions of Spider-Man, as well as Tahar Rahim's mystery character.

Everything We Know About Madame Web So Far

Even though Sony Pictures are keeping Madame Web details under tight wraps, there have been a handful of confirmations about the movie, as well as clues from set photos and videos. Madame Web will supposedly have an early 2000s setting based on production sheets that had Boston be turned into New York, but set in the past. Outside of Johnson as Cassandra Webb, Sweeney as Julia, and Rahim, Madame Web has tapped several additional cast members for undisclosed roles, and if the rumors are true, this movie will be not just a time travel story but also focus on the multiverse.

Madame Web will star Adam Scott and Emma Roberts, who are rumored to be playing young iterations of Ben and Mary Parker, which would explain the film's reported time setting. Isabela Marced and Celeste O'Connor were also cast in Madame Web, and are rumored to potentially be playing Anya Corazon and Mattie Franklin, respectively. Sony Pictures have not confirmed or denied rumors about their roles, but Merced told Screen Rant in 2022 about her intense training for Madame Web, which likely means she may be playing a superhero. Mike Epps and Zosia Mamet will also be part of Madame Web, but their characters are also being kept a secret.

With Madame Web's ability to see "within the spider world," this could become one of the biggest movies of all time for Sony's Spider-Man Universe and finally start tying things together. Given that the Spider-Verse movies have officially connected themselves to Sony's live-action projects, it only makes sense for Madame Web to continue expanding upon that story thread, especially after Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Hopefully, Sony will have a Madame Web trailer release sooner rather than later as they get closer to their 2024 release date.
