The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was a huge, dense experience, and the next entry in the series could be best-served downsizing.

HIGHLIGHTS

  •  The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is highly regarded as one of the best games of the year, surpassing its predecessor Breath of the Wild in terms of advancements and surprises. It is a must-play title for Nintendo Switch owners.
  •  While the franchise has never been complacent, constantly reinventing itself with games like Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, the time may be ripe for a smaller Zelda experience. This could appeal to long-time fans while showcasing the series' ability to offer new experiences within a tried-and-tested structure.
  •  Despite the overwhelming expansiveness of Tears of the Kingdom, a smaller game more reminiscent of the pre-Breath of the Wild era could be welcomed by fans. Variety in gameplay mechanics and innovation has always been a hallmark of the series, and providing different experiences can be exciting for players.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is one of the most acclaimed games in a calendar year that is quickly becoming the best in modern memory. It made plenty of advancements over Breath of the Wild to craft something that will keep gamers' attention for months, and years later still has the means to surprise. Each is a must-play title for the Nintendo Switch, and whatever comes next has a lot to live up to.

It's hard to predict what will come after Tears of the Kingdom in large part because the franchise has never rested on its laurels. Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask shared plenty of assets, but The Wind Waker threw them out entirely for something new. Making something smaller is always an option, and after the freedom of the recent games, now could be the perfect time.

There's Merit to the Smaller Zelda Experiences

Though Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are justifiably praised for their nonlinear approach to level design and their potential for user-generated fun, there is another side to Zelda that is as loved by fans and critics alike. The series deployed a familiar format in games like A Link to the Past, Minish Cap, and Link's Awakening, with the pacing, puzzles, and tightly-paced setting being the reason players kept coming back. It's comfortable for some, and the way each unfolds shows that Zelda can provoke new experiences using a tried-and-tested structure.

Now that the two Nintendo Switch exclusive games are on shelves and being enjoyed by millions, the impact of a smaller Zelda game can be higher than ever. In the days of the Super Nintendo and Game Boy, fans knew to expect a specific design, but the top-down and 'restricted' formula could now be a wonderful juxtaposition of the open-world projects to both appeal to long-time fans and also show that Zelda doesn't have to fully and unwaveringly commit to what Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom started. There will always be certain things that fans expect of Link's journeys, but those things can be adhered to even in something more compact.

Tears of the Kingdom is Big, Ambitious, and Often Overwhelming

In many ways, Tears of the Kingdom returns to the philosophy of the NES original with its open area and lack of a linear story. It's a legitimate Zelda experience because of this, but with the last couple of decades cementing a specific game design, the expansiveness of the 2023 offering can be overwhelming, even to those who have a history with the property. There is no guarantee that fans will like it as a result, and despite Tears of the Kingdom and its 2017 predecessor bringing in plenty of new players, there is still a core group of loyal fans who have to be catered for.

It would be so disheartening to know that Zelda will forever be adopting this new way, so a smaller game that is more akin to the pre-Breath of the Wild era would surely be welcomed. Knowing where to go next and what to expect is something that makes repeat playthroughs of The Wind Waker and Skyward Sword so exciting, as the scripted moments can be as thrilling as the curiosities that can be found in the open-world version of Hyrule. Zelda has never shied away from being both brave in its approach to innovation and unapologetic with its mechanics, and giving more variety to the seasoned series can only be a good thing.

 SUMMARY

  1.  The 100 saw several actors leave the show due to conflicts with the creator and harmful treatment of characters, but Eliza Taylor remained throughout.
  2.  Actors on successful shows like The 100 often leave to pursue other opportunities, leading to the departure of key cast members.
  3.  The deaths of fan-favorite characters like Lincoln and Lexa sparked controversy and criticism among viewers.

Many prominent The 100 actors left the show before it ended, though the "why" behind these departures varies greatly. The post-apocalyptic science fiction drama, which is an adaptation of Kass Morgan's young-adult novels of the same name, aired on The CW from 2014 to 2020. Across its whopping seven seasons, the popular show received flack for the harmful ways it killed off fan-favorite characters, putting the TV series' creator Jason Rothenberg at the center of several high-profile conflicts. Even so, no matter how well or poorly characters were written off the show, The 100 saw actors come and go for a variety of reasons.

The pattern isn't uncommon. While many of The 100's young actors rose to prominence thanks to the show, that also came with some pitfalls. That is, success on one TV series means the actors responsible for that acclaim will land roles in other projects — especially if they aren't series regulars. While plenty of key members from The 100's cast of characters dipped in advance of season 7, The 100 star Eliza Taylor, who plays protagonist Clarke Griffin, remained on the series until its finale episode. Judging by a "where are they now" of The 100 cast, Taylor is one of the few actors who saw the series through.

Thomas McDonell

Nearly a century after a nuclear apocalypse ravages Earth, a group of juvenile delinquents is sent to Earth to test its hospitable nature. One of those one hundred teens is Finn Collins (Thomas McDonell). At first, Finn seems like the obvious love interest for protagonist Clarke — until it's revealed that he's seeing another of the Earth-bound teens, engineer Raven Reyes (Lindsey Morgan). After Finn goes on a Grounder killing spree, Clarke mercy kills Finn to prevent him from suffering an exceedingly violent death sentence. Given that Finn's season 2 death was plotted from the start, McDonell's time on the show was always going to be short-lived.

Ricky Whittle

After first appearing in The 100 season 1, Ricky Whittle's Lincoln — a Grounder warrior who's incredibly skeptical of Clarke and the other "Sky People" — stuck around for two more seasons. Despite nabbing a more prominent role during the second season, Whittle's fan-favorite character suffered a dark fate. After The 100 killed off Lincoln in season 3, the actor spoke out about the show's toxic work environment. The show's unnecessarily violent on-screen treatment of one of its most prominent characters of color only furthered the harm felt by fans. After leaving the series under these troubling circumstances, Whittle went on to star in American Gods.

Alycia Debnam-Carey

Aside from Whittle's Lincoln, the loss of Alycia Debnam-Carey's Lexa, the leader of the Grounders, stands out as The 100's saddest death and biggest misstep. The strong-willed warrior fell into a slow-burn, enemies-to-lovers romance with Clarke. However, Debnam-Carey nabbed a series regular role in Fear the Walking Dead, which meant The 100 needed to write her out. Frustratingly, the series killed Lexa by employing a tired trope; much like Buffy's Tara, she's hit by a stray bullet after finally finding happiness with Clarke. To make it up to queer fans, The 100 brought Debnam-Carey back a few times in sci-fi cameo form.

Henry Ian Cusick

After six seasons, Henry Ian Cusick's villain-turned-hero Marcus Kane left The 100. Around the time of his departure, the actor was cast as the lead in MacGyver, leading fans to speculate about Kane's ensuing death. While Cusick played out Kane's death, the character's consciousness was placed into a new body (Greyston Holt). Unable to live with himself (despite not consenting to the procedure), the new-Marcus Kane takes his own life. It was a shocking turn of events in-universe, but it wasn't surprising given the actor's new gig — and the way The 100's divisive ending killed its franchise potential.

Paige Turco

From the start, Paige Turco played Abby Griffin, Clarke's mother. Throughout the series, it was hard to pin the character down: at times, she was easy to hate, while, at others, she became important to Clarke — and the viewers. Pretty much right after The 100 ousted Marcus Kane, it also killed off Abby, making season 6 a particularly brutal watch. Without getting too deep into the show's lore, Abby first sacrifices herself, then gets her mind wiped, and finally sees her body taken over, forcing Clarke to kill what looks like her mom. Later, Turco cameos as her character when a being called The Judge takes Abby's form.

Kelly Hu

The 100's premiere episode left many viewers wondering why Kelly Hu didn't return after the pilot episode. Although it was a brief stint, Hu played Callie, Abby Griffin's closest friend on the Ark — the space station where human survivors lived pre-return to Earth. While giving Abby a confidant was a great storytelling move, budget constraints forced the show's team to make some cuts. This led to an off-screen death for Hu's Callie character — a resounding disappointment for viewers who connected with her during her brief appearance in the pilot.

Devon Bostick

In the first four seasons of The 100, Devon Bostick plays Jasper, a goofy chemist who doesn't seem to take anything seriously. That all changes after Jasper is captured by Grounders. From then on, the character grapples with living with post-traumatic stress disorder, leaning on his best friend Monty (Christopher Larkin) for support. After losing his short-lived love interest, Jasper turns to alcohol to numb his pain. Aside from Clarke, Jasper suffers some of the most damaging losses throughout the series.

That fact alone makes his death all-the-more frustrating. After dying in what seems like an Arkadia-related accident — one that Monty fails to save him from — it's revealed that Jasper purposefully took his own life. Clarke even finds a note alongside the character's signature goggles. Given that the Jasper character was supposed to die in season 1, it seems his death was just another one of the series' heart-wrenching plot choices.

Christopher Larkin

Played for five seasons by Christopher Larkin, Monty always did the best things on The 100, making him the show's only true good guy. Ever the moral center of the series, Monty makes a huge decision in the fifth season that saves all of his friends. Instead of entering cryo-sleep, Monty and his partner, Harper, stay awake to chart the group's next moves. However, the couple never enter cryo-sleep: instead, they live out their lives together. When Clarke and co. wake up a century later, they learn what Monty did for them. In season 6, Larkin makes a cameo appearance, but only as a manifestation of Clarke's thoughts.

Isaiah Washington

The former Chancellor of the Ark space station, Thelonious Jaha is one of three adults (alongside Abby and Kane) to join the 100 teens who are sent to Earth. While Isaiah Washington plays Jaha for five seasons, the character slowly loses everything he worked so hard to achieve. Namely, he loses his position of power in the group after he and Kane clash over how best to handle the Grounders — though Jaha also loses his son early on too. All of this grief sets him on a surprising trajectory to the City of Light, an unreal realm controlled by the artificial intelligence called A.L.I.E.

In a move that proves The 100 ruins all characters after a while, Jaha returns to bring others into A.L.I.E.'s cult, convinced that escaping the pain of life is worth giving up one's agency (and grip on reality). After coming to, a guilt-ridden Jaha struggles to redeem himself, but is ultimately stabbed to death by one of the group's many enemies. Reportedly, the now-P-Valley star didn't care for the direction The 100 was taking in season 5 and asked to be written off.

The impact of Perry's role on 'Friends' cannot be overstated.

THE BIG PICTURE

  1.  Matthew Perry's portrayal of Chandler Bing was iconic and integral to Friends, making the news of his passing difficult.
  2.  Chandler played a crucial role in bringing Joey and Ross together, and his dynamic with Joey was filled with memorable moments on Friends.
  3.  Chandler's sarcasm and effortless charm won over the audience, and his romance with Monica provided one of the best character arcs in the entire series.

The news of Matthew Perry's passing is a gut punch in so many ways. It's almost like losing a friend. And for all the generations that have watched the entire run of the wildly successful, game-changing show Friends, it's a very tough pill to swallow as well. Perry as Chandler Bing is one of the most iconic characters of modern television, and his impact on Friends cannot be overstated.

Chandler was the glue that held the group together in so many ways, from being the guy who introduced Joey (Matt LeBlanc) to Ross (David Schwimmer) and the rest of the gang, to his hilariously sarcastic but effortless chemistry with Monica (Courteney Cox), as well as his dynamics with Rachel (Jennifer Aniston) and Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow). His kind and super sarcastic methods were both charming and disarming in a way that made everything feel okay when things were awkward, and his organic and heartwarming friendship and eventually romance with Monica unforgettably carried the last few seasons of the sitcom phenomenon.

Without Chandler, Joey and Ross Would Never Have Met on 'Friends'

Chandler and Ross grew up together, and some of the scenes that take place during their high school years are some of the best on Friends. Forced to pick one, we would be hard-pressed to come up with a better episode than when Chandler was sporting his Flock of Seagulls '80s glam/synth rock star look and Ross did his best Don Johnson impersonation from Miami Vice. Their friendship is sort of grandfathered into the show, so when Chandler took on a young Joey Tribbiani as a roommate in the first season, he introduced the best friend from his past to the guy who would become his ride-or-die buddy throughout the show.

The three guys of Friends essentially came together because of Chandler; in other words, the three of them would never have been as close as they were without him. Together, Chandler and Joey shared more experiences than we could possibly list off over the show's 10-season run — but it's probably their foosball games, dual reclining chairs in front of that huge big-screen TV, and ability to be confidants as well as roommates that we remember most. Even when they were fighting, it was hilarious — like the episode where Joey put on a dozen layers from Chandler's closet and waddled into Monica and Rachel's apartment. "Could I be wearing any more clothes?!"

As Chandler, Matthew Perry's Effortless Charm Won Us All Over on 'Friends'

Matthew Perry's Chandler had a sarcasm that was disarming before his charm ultimately won us over. Given that he didn't initially present as potential boyfriend material (at least during the first half of Friends' run), Monica, Rachel, and Phoebe were always at their most relaxed and laid-back when they were with him. There was no messy Ross/Rachel ("We were on a break!") dynamic going on, or the over-the-top "How you doin'?" approach that Joey made his unforgettable catchphrase.

Instead, Chandler had a knack for noticing the small things about his friends, not to mention a hilarious and unique way of expressing himself. He was the type of guy who could be Ross's best friend while also maintaining a cool relationship with Ross's little sister — that is until he couldn't anymore and Chandler and Monica hooked up, eventually becoming one of the best couples in television history. Who could forget one of the most memorable Friends moments in which Monica got an uncooked turkey stuck on her head — just in time for Chandler to admit he was truly in love with her?

Chandler and Monica Had the Best Character Arcs in 'Friends'

While the Ross and Rachel of it all no doubt hooked viewers and reeled them in during the first few seasons of Friends, it was Chandler and Monica's fully formed and organic relationship that carried the show through to the finish line. Things had gotten so messy and uncomfortable with the on-again off-again nature of Ross and Rachel's dysfunctional dynamic that the innocence of Chandler and Monica gave Friends a second wind of sorts. It also offered the audience a partnership that truly evolved over the last few seasons, especially as the two took some serious life steps forward together and grew up — both as a couple and as individual characters.

From sneaking around like teenagers in order to keep their romance a secret to getting married, planning for a family, and eventually moving out of the sacred apartment that we all love so much, Chandler and Monica were the most well-written and fully formed players in the series. It was great to see Perry's character evolve from a glib and snarky (albeit astute and hilarious) twenty-something to a responsible man ready to move on to the next chapter of his life as a husband and father.

We Will Miss Matthew Perry

For many of us, Matthew Perry was Chandler Bing, an actor who parlayed his success on Friends into some memorable roles on the big screen in The Whole Nine Yards with Bruce Willis and Fools Rush In opposite Salma Hayek. We will remember the rapier-like wit that he wielded with such ease on-screen, despite some very difficult things that he was dealing with in his personal life during the halcyon days of Friends and also following the show's run. He was a master comedic actor whose timing was integral to Friends' long-running success.

If you were to poll the entire world about their favorite Friends star, or about which of the six friends the show could not afford to lose, Chandler Bing would probably get the most love — and by a landslide. For those of us who spent countless hours watching the group congregate at Central Perk and bouncing back and forth through the hallways between apartments, this one hurts. A part of our youth has been ushered away with Perry's passing, but we can only be grateful that we can still turn on our televisions and remember why he made us feel so good for thirty minutes at a time. Matthew Perry was the glue that held the lives of six young New Yorkers together and made Friends a ubiquitous television monument, but he was also the one most likely to make us laugh until it hurt.

LOS ANGELES, Oct 29 (Reuters) - Actor Matthew Perry, beloved star of the top-rated 1990s U.S. television sitcom "Friends" as the wise-cracking Chandler Bing, died on Saturday after apparently drowning in a hot tub.

He was 54. The Los Angeles Times and TMZ.com, citing law enforcement sources, reported that the American-Canadian performer was found dead in a jacuzzi at his Los Angeles home. NBC, which broadcast "Friends" for 10 years, confirmed his demise in a statement on social media platform X.

The news brought an outpouring of grief from fellow celebrities and other high-profile personalities. Actor Mira Sorvino said on X: “Oh no!!! Matthew Perry!! You sweet, troubled soul!! May you find and happiness in Heaven, making everyone laugh with your singular wit!!!”

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who was a former schoolmate of Perry's in Ottawa, described the latter's passing as "shocking and saddening". "I'll never forget the schoolyard games we used to play, and I know people around the world are never going to forget the joy he brought them," Trudeau said on X. "Thanks for all the laughs, Matthew. You were loved - and you will be missed.”

NBC News, citing an unnamed representative of Perry and a law enforcement source, said he was found dead at his home in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles. "We are incredibly saddened by the too-soon passing of Matthew Perry," NBC Entertainment said.

"He brought so much joy to hundreds of millions of people around the world with his pitch perfect comedic timing and wry wit. His legacy will live on through countless generations." Perry's last post on Instagram, on Oct. 23, included a photograph of him sitting in a pool or jacuzzi at night, with the words: "Oh, so warm water swirling around makes you feel good? I'm Mattman."

Perry was best known for his longtime role as Chandler in the internationally successful "Friends," which ran for 10 seasons from 1994 to 2004, co-starring Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc and Lisa Kudrow.

The series made international celebrities out of all six castmates, who played a close-knit group of young adults who spent time at each other's apartments and at "Central Perk," a fictional Manhattan cafe.

Acquire Licensing Rights One of the major story lines involved a clandestine romance between Chandler and Monica Geller, the character played by Cox, which the four other friends - Rachel, Joey, Phoebe and Ross - each discovered one by one. The pair eventually marry.

The group reunited in 2021, 17 years after the series finale, for a much-hyped special that aired on HBO Max. The show was, for a time, the most watched U.S. television program in prime time, with each actor earning $1 million per episode at the height of its popularity.

Hidden from the public's view during much of the original run was Perry's prolonged struggle with addiction to prescription drugs and alcohol, which he detailed in his 2022 memoir, "Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing."

"Hi, my name is Matthew, although you may know me by another name. My friends call me Matty. And I should be dead," Perry wrote in the opening of the book.

In a New York Times interview published in October 2022, Perry said he had been clean for 18 months: "I've probably spent $9 million or something trying to get sober."

Perry recounted in his book that he had to be driven back to rehab right after shooting the episode of Chandler and Monica's wedding. Following "Friends," Perry went on to star in three more network television ventures that proved short-lived - "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip," "Mr. Sunshine" and "Go On."

He also logged guest appearances or recurring roles in other hit TV shows, including "The West Wing," "Ally McBeal," "Scrubs" and "Beverly Hills, 90210." His motion picture credits included "Fools Rush In," "The Whole Nine Yards," "Almost Heroes" and "Three to Tango."

The Massachusetts-born actor grew up in Ottawa after his mother, a Canadian journalist who once served as press secretary to former Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, divorced Perry's father and married a Canadian broadcasting personality.Perry was a top-ranking junior tennis player before he moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting and improvisational comedy.

To be fair, Task Force 836 does sound a teensy-weensy bit treasonous when you spell it all out.

The Blacklist recap

Which is exactly what Rep. Arthur Hudson (Toby Leonard Moore) and his FBI buddy Jordan Nixon (Derrick Williams) are doing for Attorney General Stromberg (Dan Butler) at the start of this week's episode.

The Blacklist recap

Stromberg is mostly annoyed that a low-level congressperson is messing with a task force that is well above his pay grade, until Hudson links Red (James Spader) to last week's huge security breach at the Capital. That tea is piping hot enough to make the AG skip a meeting with the president.

Which is not great news for our team — but they don't know what's happening quite yet.

In Miami, Red is busy dropping by to visit Heddie Hawkins (Aida Turturro). The last time we saw bird-loving Heddie, she was proving her loyalty to Red even as Marvin tried to set her up. (For the record, I didn't believe it for one second. Heddie would never).

That loyalty pays off now as Red buys her a bird sanctuary in Guatemala. It's a thoughtful gift and a sweet way to say goodbye to a fan-favorite character.

Back at TFHQ, the team is trying to figure out what happens now that Red has shut down his massive spy operation.  Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff) and Malik (Anya Banerjee) are both trying to figure out Red's motivations, but Dembe (Hisham Tawfiq) points out it is impossible to really know.

Herbie (Alex Brightman) cuts off their speculation, calling it "throwing darts in the dark on a train going off a cliff." He wants to get to the important stuff — like whether there is still a Blacklist and if not, if there is still a Task Force. After all, he just got this desk the way he likes it.

Ressler gets a message from Jonathan Pritchard's (Mackenzie Astin) wife, saying that she hasn't seen him in days and his credit cards have been used at bars. His sponsee has clearly fallen off the wagon, pushed by Hudson.

Back from Miami, Red is once again letting go of real estate. This time, it's tahe bathhouse. He signs the building over to the historical society just in time for Weecha Xiu (Diany Rodriguez) to arrive.

She wants to understand why he's selling the only place he's been sleeping lately, and he says he'll soon be off to "chase the moon across the world." This chapter of his life is ending, having lasted longer than he thought it would.

He asks her to come with him, but Weecha is reluctant. Despite their love, they're too similar and eventually, one of them will get restless and leave. Red tells her that the jet leaves at 4 p.m. If she wants to be with him, she'll be there.

Back in D.C., Cynthia Panabaker (Deirdre Lovejoy) tells Cooper (Harry Lennix) that they've been summoned to the attorney general's office. Because she has learned her lesson over the years, Panabaker also asks if Harold knows what the meeting is about. When Cooper tells her to come in and sit down, the look on her face is hilariously resigned.

Ressler tracks down Pritchard at a seedy motel and however bad you imagine the addict looks, he looks worse. He admits everything to Ressler, who promptly calls Cooper from the hotel landline to warn him just as he's about to walk into Stromberg's office.

Which means that Cooper is not surprised when he finally enters the meeting and hears his own voice on tape saying all the juicy parts from last week. Yikes!

While that's happening, Red's goodbye tour has taken him to visit our very favorite torture expert. Teddy Brimley (Teddy Coluca) does not have good advice about Weecha, with the anti-romantic recommending that Red take off early to ensure she doesn't make it. Luckily, Dembe interrupts with a call explaining Hudson's spying and the meeting Cooper is currently suffering through.

We cut back to that gathering, and it's a doozy. Hudson is full of outrage, Panabaker is defensive, and Cooper has had quite enough. "I can sleep at night. If you want my badge, take my badge. I'm done apologizing."

At that very moment, the monitors in Stromberg's office come alive and Red appears. The look of shock on everyone's face (except Cooper's, natch) is amazing.

Back in Teddy's barn, Tadashi Ito (Alex Shimizu) is running the hacking feed. No Mama Ito, unfortunately, but it's still nice to see the computer expert in this last run of episodes.

Hudson is livid at the intrusion, telling Red, "It's clear to me that you have more power than any confidential informant ever should." The C.I. in question shoots back, "It's funny, you have more power than a congressman should."

Panabaker clearly smothers a laugh, but I do not smother mine.

Stromberg is not amused, though, especially when Red lets him know that he deleted all the case files. But Red isn't there to defend himself; he's there to defend the Task Force. He gives a fiery speech that reminds them who they're dealing with, ending with this:

"What's truly inarguable is that Harold Cooper and his team have lost, and sacrificed, and given their lives and still delivered to you time and time again. You wanna blame someone, blame yourself and the others who preceded you, because you want your information from Raymond Reddington. You want to solve cases, you want to save lives, you want to have an effect — but you don't want to be guilty of doing business with me. Not in the harsh light of day. Well, shame on you. I am what I am. You made a devil's bargain. Did you really expect me to stop being the Devil?"

The Blacklist recap

Whew! Let me take a moment to fan myself and recover, because oh, my.

Okay, I got a glass of ice water. I can continue.

Meeting over, Cooper arrives back at TFHQ and tells our crew they should answer all questions they're asked. By whom? Nixon, Hudson, and the team of FBI agents who have just shown up to take over. The Task Force is being raided.

Nixon tells the team that they aren't under arrest, but they want any information that will lead them to arresting Red before he leaves the country. The individual interrogations are amusingly unproductive; Dembe explains how he got an FBI job with, "I applied for it, I had an interview, and they hired me."

Ressler has an even better comedic moment when Nixon asks if he's ever seen Red commit a crime, responding simply, "Are you for real?"

Unfortunately, Hudson has found a clue among Herbie's desk decorations: a framed picture of Herbie and Sue posing in front of Red's private jet. The tail number is visible, and they start to track the plane through its transponder.

Dembe pickpockets the cell of an agent to call Red and warn him. Red is already on the plane, waiting to see if Weecha will arrive. He checks his watch. It's 3:55 p.m.

Nixon tells the small airport to ground all planes and sends a team to intercept the jet.

At 4:15 p.m., Red's pilot Edward calls to let him know they're grounded. Red figures out Hudson and Nixon have found the plane and despite his reluctance, agrees to take off immediately.

The Blacklist recap

In time, too, because as Nixon pulls up with his team, the plane is in the air. Yay! And then the plane blows up. Boo!

I'll give Hudson credit, he immediately suspects shenanigans and demands that Nixon go and find a body. They won't find one, though, because we cut to Red and Weecha in a car, driving away from the airport.

Red is teasing her for being so late, but Weecha defends herself by saying she needed to know he would wait for her. It's adorable, and I am fully rooting for them. Weecha is less amused to learn that the plane has always been rigged with explosives for a situation like this, but Red points out that Edward is an excellent pilot.

A pilot who is waiting in the middle of the street to get picked up, parachute still in hand. And who is playing Edward? ANDREW FRICKIN' MCCARTHY.

McCarthy has directed multiple episodes of The Blacklist over the years, but he and Spader haven't been on screen together since their days of Pretty in Pink, Mannequin, and Less Than Zero. It's an absolute Gen-X delight to hear a Huey Lewis song play as Edward climbs in the car and they drive off after their successful mission.

It's over too soon, and we are suddenly back at a much moodier TFHQ. Stromberg lets Cooper know that there were no bodies, so Red is still at large. They dip into Cooper's scotch, and the attorney general explains that he's letting the Task Force continue because he knows they're good agents.

The Blacklist recap

He doesn't care about Hudson, who has had his chance and failed. But the savvy politician also knows that someone is going to take the fall for everything that has occurred. Stromberg boils it down to a simple choice: either the Task Force arrests Red, or he'll recommend prosecution for every member of the team.

Everyone gets their cell phones back and for Ressler, it just makes everything worse. Pritchard has called multiple times, leaving desperate voicemails. By the time Ressler gets back to the motel, it's too late. Pritchard has overdosed and died.

Hudson will probably not be held accountable for that tragedy, but it's on his ledger nonetheless.

Cooper finally arrives at home and is somehow surprised that Red is sitting in his kitchen. They catch up with the whole "it's Red or the Task Force" thing, but Red is remarkably blasé about the situation.

The Blacklist recap

"Let's have a little fun on the way out," he says. "Catch me if you can."

"I don't know if I can handle more. I should check my systolic pressure first." I swear poor Cynthia Panabaker has lost literal years off her life dealing with these people.

Red has a lovely get together with Agnes (Sami Bray) where he gives her Elizabeth's FBI badge.

When Hudson tells Red he wants to put him behind bars, Red snaps back, "I've been, several times. It doesn't take."

In the vast (and generally unpalatable) world of “celebrity” booze brands, few have surprised me like Emma Watson’s gin. Renais—a family brand bolstered by the actor-turned-activist and her brother, Alex Watson—is actually very, very good. Inspired by the people, production and provenance of Chablis (where their father, Chris Watson, has been investing in wine for over three decades), Emma and Alex’s gin has brought something unique to the not-quite-so-Gin-Boom-ing market.

Something distinctive. Complex. Luxurious, even. A gin inspired by (and extracting parts of) the winemaking process. “None of this would have been possible without my dad,” Alex tells me, sipping a Renais highball at Paris’ illustrious Hôtel de Crillon, where the months-old brand has already secured a residency. “His passion for wine was about sharing it with friends and family when he bought the first vineyard [in 1992]. We’re just following the same passion in a different way.”

Domaine Watson, which exists separately from Renais, comprises a handful of small Chablis and Irancy vineyards that Chris has accumulated over the last three decades. Renais, keeping things familial, crafts its gin using Domaine Watson grape skins, salvaged from the winemaking process, before enriching them with pressed grand cru grapes and a selection of natural botanicals. The result is not only a testament to the passion of two generations of the Watson family for all things Chablis, but the family itself.

Born just outside of Paris, both Alex and Emma had taken numerous trips to their father’s Domaine in their youth—not only to spend time there as a family, but to provide some “free labor” on the vineyards. “I’ve got to be honest, it probably cost everyone more than it made them,” Alex admits.

“I learned so much so fast at Diageo, and it made me realize there was an opportunity to do something really different,” he says. “Ems and I are so passionate about Chablis, about the traditions, about the unique characteristics of the land, and I knew this byproduct [unused grape skins] would be the perfect way to capture the essence of the terroir in an unexpected way. “But yeah, it did take some time to convince my dad,” he laughs.

Emma Watson and Alex Watson Renais Gin

In the last ten years, Chris had not only turned what started as a small vineyard into an award-winning wine production, but received a prestigious Medaille d'Argent for second-best independent grower of Chablis in 2002 and was appointed one of the "piliers" of Chablis, becoming the region's ambassador to the UK. While Renais is categorically not a wine, or a product of Chablis (as a protected wine region), the risk of blurring any lines meant Chris wanted to see a fully-fledged business and production plan before sharing his wealth.

“Obviously, I was always going to agree,” Chris whispers, smiling into a glass of Domaine Yvon & Laurent Vocoret Chablis 1er Cru Homme Mort. “He’s a genius.” The genius is evident in the product, too. Kimmeridgian soils and limestone, which are rich in ancient marine fossils, lend a unique minerality to Chablis wines (setting them apart from other chardonnays), and the Watsons went to extreme lengths to ensure this was captured in their gin.

Distilled in small batches for quality, the spirit undergoes Kimmeridgian stone maceration before being distilled with botanicals like linden flowers, cubeb berries and acacia honey. The result? A feast of Chablis-esque minerality, packed with fresh citrus, white grape, garden herbs, florals and juniper. A product any Chablis-loving Watson would be proud of. "To me, Renais is a family project. Not only does the Chablis region evoke cherished memories of growing up, but I also relish the opportunity to create something with my brother Alex,” says Emma.

While it would have been easy for her to secure sales as the sole face of the brand, Emma has taken a side-step out of the limelight at Renais. While she’s a shareholder in the business and oversees most of company’s creative direction, Alex Watson is at the forefront, shining in what others might describe as his sister’s shadow. “Ems is…” he trails off, trying to find the right word. “She’s just the best. She had so much faith in me and in this idea—which actually isn’t so easy to do.” The idea to produce gin in this way, in fact, is the antithesis of ease. The grape skins Renais uses are only available for a two-week window during harvest season each year, leaving a lot of Renais’ magic to the land’s schedule.

Of course, complex production processes also secure its credentials as a premium product. One that costs £45 ($54) per art deco-inspired bottle pop. “It’s definitely a luxury gin,” says Alex, “and there aren’t many people doing luxury gin. You can count our competitors on one hand, but I think we do it best...” A wry smile passes as we move onto neat serves of Renais (an experience I would normally object to, where gin is concerned, but one that leaves me more than pleasantly surprised). “No, we definitely do it best.” And everyone, straight-sipping gin at the table, agrees. They’re not making “celebrity” booze at Renais, they’re making a truly delicious little family legacy.

Elden Ring player finds a hidden sword thought to have been cut from the game. Elden Ring players have been unraveling the game's secrets since launch, and to this day, more secrets remain. In the past few weeks, however, at least one more of those mysteries has been solved.

Players have now discovered what came of a weapon that was found in datamined parts of Elden Ring but hadn't been located in the game itself, an omission which led players to believe that there was some sort of mystery weapon out there in the Lands Between that players simply hadn't come across yet. As expected considering how thorough the SoulsBorne community can be, however, it seems that's not the case -- at least not technically.

The mystery sword in question was featured not long ago in a video from Ziostorm who put together a showcase about some of these longstanding Elden Ring secrets. By looking through the icons present in the game's files, Ziostorm highlighted a weapon which came in three different forms but was nowhere to be found in Elden Ring itself. One version of the weapon was a beat up sword in a sheath, another was a more polished, unsheathed version, and a third was a malformed version of the second with imagery akin to that which is sometimes associated with Fury and Madness in the game.

Elden Ring's Secret Sword, Solved

The video above shows off that sword with some speculation from Ziostorm about what the weapon might entail. The Elden Ring content creator recalled in the video a weapon from Dark Souls 2 called Santier's Spear which had to be broken before its full potential was unlocked and theorized that perhaps this weapon was meant to be something like that with the Frenzied Flame perhaps involved in attaining this weapon's final form.

Some of those theories are still potentially accurate seeing how we don't know what the purpose of these three different variations was, but players have at least now found the sword itself. Ziostorm tweeted about it again just recently and showed the icon next to some of the giant swords scene at burial and memorial sites throughout the Lands Between. As players can see from the matching hilt and other aspects of the designs, the swords are essentially one and the same.

Remember this cut sword from Elden Ring?

We finally have a match for it. It seems the gravestone swords you can find across The Lands Between were originally meant to be a weapon the player could use. "I had that swords stuck in my head for weeks after I watched your video, so you can imagine how I jumped from my chair when I noticed it," the user said.

But what of the different versions of the weapons? Perhaps it was planned to be a usable weapon at one point only to be repurposed into a prop. In true FromSoftware fashion, not all of the questions about this topic have been answered, but there's at least some closure to be had. "As we've covered in the past, there are two other cut sword icons that share the same hilt as this one. One of them has Haligtree iconography and the other appears to be burned by frenzy," Ziostorm said in a follow-up tweet. "There was likely a quest involved to mold this sword into the other two versions."

After Amber Heard's role as Mera was cut back for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, director James Wan defended his decision to make that move.

Heard's place in Aquaman 2 has been a major talking point amongst fans following the highly-publicized defamation trial against her ex-husband, Pirates of the Caribbean star Johnny Depp. Wan and other Warner Bros.

executives shared messages welcoming Heard back to this film's cast, although public opinion surrounding the actress is causing concern for Aquaman 2's potential success in theaters.

Aquaman 2 Director Defends Amber Heard's Smaller Role

Speaking in the latest edition of Empire Magazine, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom director James Wan defended the decision for Amber Heard's Mera to have a reduced role in the sequel as compared to her significant supporting role in the first movie.

During Heard's defamation trial against Johnny Depp, she claimed that Warner Bros. cut some of her scenes in Aquaman 2, blatantly telling the courtroom that the studio "didn't want to include [her] in the film."

Wan admitted that this was a fair statement, noting that "she wasn't in [his] head" while developing the film, which was always planned as "an outright buddy comedy" centered on Jason Momoa's Arthur Curry and his brother, Patrick Wilson's Orm:

"It’s fair that [Heard] said that [about the character being pared down], because she wasn’t in my head as I was working on this movie. Actors don’t necessarily know what we [directors] behind the scenes are thinking about.

But this was always my plan. From the start, I pitched that the first film would be a 'Romancing The Stone'-type thing — an action-adventure romantic comedy — while the second would be an outright buddy comedy. I wanted to do 'Tango & Cash!'"

How Will Amber Heard Be Used in Aquaman 2?

Fans got only a quick glimpse at Amber Heard's Mera in the first trailer for Aquaman 2, with reports about her lessened role in the sequel seemingly proving to be true. Although this appears to be more due to the story being told rather than Heard's status in the public eye after her trial, there's no question that her presence will be a talking point considering all the circumstances.

An exclusive report from The Direct noted Mera will become a mother to the new heir of Atlantis in Aquaman 2, which has since been confirmed following her baby's appearance in the sequel's first trailer. And with this sequel being the final movie in the DC Extended Universe before James Gunn and Peter Safran's new universe begins, the fan reception to Heard's inclusion will be difficult to ignore.

The Walking Dead spinoff, Daryl Dixon, just confirmed its protagonist still has feelings for Connie after one line gave away she is still on his mind.

SUMMARY

  •  Despite never having a solid romantic storyline, Daryl Dixon from The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon spinoff still has feelings for Connie.
  •  Daryl's mention of Connie's name before Carol's suggests that she holds significant influence in his life and romantic feelings seem likely.
  •  While Connie is Daryl's most likely love interest, the spinoff has teased a potential romance between Daryl and Isabelle, although the outcome remains uncertain.

The Walking Dead has never allowed Daryl (Norman Reedus) to have a genuine romantic relationship, but The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon spinoff highlighted that the character still has feelings for Connie (Lauren Ridloff). Known for being a lone wolf in the earlier seasons, Daryl has become more open and learned to be part of several communities, albeit maintaining that slight edge to his character. Despite growing into a team player and stepping up to protect people, Daryl ultimately has never received a solid romantic storyline. Outside of Leah (Lynn Collins), whom he went on to kill, Daryl has yet to find love in this post-apocalyptic world.

Still, there have been moments where it looked like romance was on the cards for Daryl, only for things to fall through. Walking Dead has featured love interests that never happened for Daryl, but Connie remains the one character that seems the most likely. The two have an undeniable chemistry, and while there may not have been any concrete signs of love between them, they clearly care for one another. Both characters have complexities, which only brings them closer together as they seem to understand one another well. While things may have never gotten romantic, Daryl's spinoff suggested he does have feelings for Connie.

Walking Dead Suggests Daryl Still Has Feelings For Connie

Daryl Dixon has been much more active about teasing a potential romance for the protagonist and has suggested he still has feelings for Connie. The show seemed to leave some confusion about Daryl Dixon's love story as he was asked if he had ever been in love and refused to answer. This left his romantic feelings intentionally ambiguous, but it appears there is some clarity around this. In episode 5, Laurent (Louis Puech Scigliuzzi) asked Daryl about who he cared about, with Connie being one of the first people mentioned. While it might not be much to go off, it is a clear sign that he still cares about her.

Daryl mentioned Connie's name before Carol (Melissa McBride) despite her being the last person he had contact with before arriving in France. This proves that Connie is still at the forefront of his mind, regardless of when he last saw her. Given all the important characters Daryl doesn't mention, it is clear Connie is one of the most influential people in his life. There is still the potential that he just sees her as a close friend like Carol, but given he has known Carol much longer, there must be a greater significance as to why Connie comes to mind first, and romantic feelings seem the most likely.

Is Daryl Dixon's Teased Isabelle Romance Happening?

While Connie may be Daryl's most concrete love interest, the spinoff has teased a romance with Isabelle (Clémence Poésy). Nothing came of this in season 1, but there is still plenty of potential that sparks could fly between them in Daryl Dixon season 2. In episode 4, Isabelle revealed to her friend that she had no romantic feelings for Daryl. In the context of the scene, it is hard to tell if this is genuine or if she is trying to play things off. When Daryl finally helped get Laurent to The Nest, Isabelle looked incredibly happy, especially at seeing Daryl act as somewhat of a father figure to Laurent.

Isabelle even tried to convince him to stay, which could suggest she has grown fonder of him since that conversation regarding her feelings for him. So far, Daryl Dixon has avoided a romance story with Isabelle, and considering she is a nun, it may continue to steer clear of it. Despite this, the showrunner even teased the possibility of a relationship between the two and refused to rule it out. With Daryl feeling some sort of connection with Connie, a love story with Isabelle would create conflicting opinions. Daryl Dixon may finally give the character the love story he's been waiting for, be it Isabelle or a reunion with Connie.

Daryl Dixon's spinoff shares a similar premise to Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, supporting the idea of a future crossover between all TWD shows.

SUMMARY

  •  The similarities in the motivational speeches given by Daryl and Rick hint at a possible crossover between their spinoffs in The Walking Dead franchise.
  •  The themes of home and determination in both spinoffs make the idea of a crossover more plausible, as both characters share the same motivation to reunite with their loved ones.
  •  The appearance of Carol in Daryl's show and Michonne's mission to find her husband further support the idea of a future crossover in The Walking Dead.

A new teaser for The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live includes a similar speech to one from The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, making a future crossover even more likely for the zombie apocalypse franchise. Not many details have been released regarding Rick and Michonne's upcoming spinoff, but the teasers and preview images suggest this particular The Walking Dead project revolves around what happened to Rick after he disappeared. Upon the shocking "death" of Rick Grimes in The Walking Dead season 9, it was revealed that the show's protagonist actually survived, and became a victim of an evil organization known as the CRM.

Following the appearance of Carol in Daryl Dixon's season 1 finale, AMC's various The Walking Dead spinoffs are beginning to coalesce. Crossover theories are becoming increasingly popular thanks to the burning desire to see these beloved characters reconnect, whether that be through an eventual movie or another TV show. Scott M. Gimple, chief content officer of the Walking Dead franchise, teased the idea of a crossover and how it makes sense for The Walking Dead's future during an NYCC 2023 panel. A key similarity between Rick and Daryl's spinoffs could further proves that a crossover is on the horizon.

In the pilot episode of Daryl Dixon, the titular character gave a motivational speech through a radio in hopes of getting a message back to his friends in the United States after waking up in France. Daryl mentioned that he went out looking for something before finding trouble, and that if he didn't make it back, he wanted his group to know that he was still "trying." This speech is very similar to Rick's words in the teaser for The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, as he mentions "trying" to get away from the CRM.

Rick and Daryl sharing this speech about "trying" to reach home, and wanting the people they love to know that they are still fighting for survival, could hint toward the characters reuniting again and returning home together in an upcoming The Walking Dead crossover. Both spinoffs revolve around the themes of home and determination. This parallel makes the crossover theories more plausible, because these characters share the same motivation to eventually reunite. It makes sense that rather than seeing Rick return home in his spinoff and Daryl return home in Daryl Dixon season 2, both characters get home in a Walking Dead crossover - perhaps due to the threat posed by the CRM.

The Ones Who Live Hints At A Future Walking Dead Crossover For All Spinoffs

For the sake of evoking nostalgia for long-time fans, upcoming spinoffs like The Ones Who Live must at least hint toward a future Walking Dead crossover. Teasing potential reunions or surprise cameos could also, however, set up the franchise's future, just as Daryl Dixon did. Carol featuring in Daryl's show and asking him to "come back" through the radio contributes to this crossover theory, as does Michonne's mission to reunite with her husband. With fan-favorite characters now coming together again, The Walking Dead might just be working toward one of the greatest crossovers in TV history.

There is little doubt that The Walking Dead is building toward a crossover, but audiences might have to wait a while for this anticipated event. Spinoffs like Daryl Dixon and Dead City have both been renewed for second seasons, meaning they're more likely to focus on their own storylines until the time for a reunion is right. However, Morgan leaving Fear the Walking Dead to find Rick is one of the biggest crossover clues, and could happen sooner than expected. Vitally, Morgan also knows about the CRM. With The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live already connecting to other spinoffs, a long-awaited reunion could soon be on the cards for this beloved franchise.

A resurfaced photo showing Vanessa Hudgens meeting her ex-boyfriend Austin Butler’s current girlfriend Kaia Gerber has begun circulating online after fans discovered the 2007 red carpet interaction.

Before he was the star of Baz Lurhman’s Elvis biopic, Butler was in a relationship with fellow Disney Channel actor Hudgens for nearly a decade, until their split in 2020. The 30-year-old actor has since been romantically linked to 20-year-old Gerber, the daughter of supermodel Cindy Crawford. Now, fans have noticed a surprising link between Hudgens and Gerber in a resurfaced picture that’s making the rounds on social media.

Twitter user @KNVee was the first to share the image, which was taken at the 2007 red carpet premiere of High School Musical 2. Hudgens, who was 20 years old at the time, is pictured bending down to shake hands with then-six-year-old Gerber. “His ex meeting his new gf,” they captioned the photo. In another picture from the event, Hudgens is seen standing beside the model’s mother, Crawford, along with her brother Presley Gerber. The image went viral when user @agapethamar quoted the original tweet with the caption, “I’m crying I thought this was a meme but it really is Vanessa Hudgens meeting Kaia Gerber pls Austin Butler is so nasty for this”.

“This is crazy omg,” one person tweeted in response to the photo, while another said: “I have nothing against age gap couples (as long as they are legal) but this picture of Vanessa Hudgens meeting Kaia Gerber is THE FUNNIEST thing I’ve ever seen.” Hudgens and Butler were first spotted together back in 2011, after High School Musical co-star Ashley Tisdale introduced the pair. Butler had starred in Disney’sSharpay’s Fabulous Adventure alongside Tisdale, while Hudgens had broken up with Zac Efron one year prior.

In 2012, Hudgens and Butler made their red carpet debut as a couple. Since then, they have been pictured cozying up at Coachella festivals and posting birthday tributes for each other on Instagram. The couple even sparked engagement rumours in 2017 after Hudgens posted a picture of herself with a ring on her left hand. Hudgens shut down the engagement rumours on Twitter at the time, writing: “Guysssss. I’m not engaged! I posted a pic. Not to show off my ring that I happened to throw on that finger after a long day of filming but to show off my haircut Lol."

In 2019, after it was announced that Butler would play the role of Elvis Presley in Luhrman’s biopic about the rock star, Hudgens posted the news to her Instagram account and shared her excitement for Butler. “I AMMMM OVERRRR THE F***ING MOOOOOOOOONNNNN. I CANT WAIT,” she wrote. “SO PROUD OF MY HONEYYYYY!!!” Just six months later, it was confirmed that Hudgens and Butler had split. A source later told People that the pair had discussed an engagement prior to breaking up, but admitted that their “busy work schedules and travel” put a “strain on the relationship.”

Vanessa Hudgens poses with model Cindy Crawford and her daughter Kaia Gerber at the premiere of High School Musical 2 "The breakup isn’t easy, but she’s not one to sit around and mope," the source said about Hudgens. "She’s living it up and having fun. She seems really happy and excited about life, honestly."

Ahead of the release of Elvis, Butler spoke briefly to GQ about his breakup with Hudgens for the first time, although he did not name the Spring Breakers actress. “Life is full of changes, and you’ve got to find a way to constantly be evolving and growing,” he said.

In November 2020, Hudgens was spotted holding hands with Cole Tucker and has been dating the MLB player ever since. Meanwhile, Butler has had a series of relationships, from Elvis co-star Olivia DeJonge to actress and model Lily-Rose Depp. In May 2022, Butler made his red carpet debut with Gerber at the Met Gala.

Potterheads claim Tom Felton was jealous of Emma Watson's dance with someone else during the iconic Harry Potter scene.

SUMMARY

  • Emma Watson and Tom Felton's relationship continues to amaze and shock fans.
  • A resurfaced video of the two from behind the scenes of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire caught fans' attention, revealing Felton's jealousy as Watson danced with Victor Krum.
  • Felton's memoir, Beyond the Wand, shares Harry Potter-related stories and anecdotes, and a foreword written by Watson, describing her relationship with Felton.

The Harry Potter franchise brought many things to the world, from wonderful stories to timeless friendships. Among the scores of friendships, Emma Watson and Tom Felton’s relationship continues to amaze and shock fans, with many of them still refusing to believe that they were just ‘friends’. Even though both have spoken about it and clarified these ‘rumors’, many continue to refuse or accept their ‘claims’.

Emma Watson

And so the story goes as a resurfaced video of the two from behind the scenes of their movie Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire caught the attention of fans, many of whom couldn’t help but notice a little bit of jealousy in Felton as he watched Watson dance with her Yule ball partner, Victor Krum.

Fans Rection To Tom Felton Watching Emma Watson Dance With Another Scene

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire featured the famous Yule ball for young and old witches and wizards to let their hair down and have a good time. While things didn’t turn out all too well for the Golden Trio, they were certainly looking good for Tom Felton and Emma Watson behind the scenes.ln one of their Behind the Scene videos, the two actors could be seen having fun and even dancing. However, Felton looked a little down or as fans quote, ‘jealous’ watching Watson dancing with her partner. He rather sheepishly commented,

“Oh look at that. The star of the show. Lucky man!” Fans couldn’t help but exclaim the young actor looked like he had a little secret crush on his co-star. Some fans in the comments went ahead to write in the comments of the YouTube video,

“The untold story of Draco and Hermione. They deserve a movie together.” “he also has a crush on Emma Watson. Maybe he too shy to tell everyone about it.”

“tom totally had a thing for emma while they were filming the fourth movie.” Despite fan’s reactions, both stars have maintained that nothing has ever happened between them, despite Watson calling Felton her soulmate.

Emma Watson Hails Tom Felton As Her Soulmate

Tom Felton’s memoir, Beyond the Wand: The Magic and Mayhem of Growing Up a Wizard featured several interesting stories and anecdotes from the sets of Harry Potter. It also featured a foreword written by Emma Watson. Describing her relationship with Felton, the Beauty and the Beast actress wrote (via Glamour),

<p>“For more than 20 years now we’ve loved each other in a special way, and I’ve lost count of the times people have said to me, ‘You must have drunkenly made out, just once!’ ‘You must have kissed!’ ‘There must be something!’ But what we have is far deeper than that. It’s one of the purest loves I can think of. We’re soulmates, and we’ve always had each other’s backs. I know we always will.” While Felton stated that there was always something more between them but that he ‘loved and admired her as a person in a way that I could never explain to anybody else.’ Despite the two actor’s denial of a romantic relationship between them, fans continue to hope that perhaps someday their ship could come true.

During a guest appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Christina Aguilera was asked if she thinks she'll be mentioned in Britney Spears' upcoming memoir The Woman in Me. Come on over, baby and see Christina Aguilera's reaction to Britney Spears' memoir.

During the Oct. 16 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the "Genie in the Bottle" singer was asked if she thinks she'll be in the "Piece of Me" artist's upcoming book The Woman in Me. "Dude, I don't know," Christina told host Jimmy Kimmel. "I don't know."

But does she hope to be in it?

"I don't know," the Grammy winner continued. "Am I hoping? I mean, I'm hoping that, you know, everything is all good with her and everything's beautiful. I think the future should be celebrated."

Still, Jimmy didn't stop there. After asking whether Christina would prefer to be included in the book or left out, the late-night host joked he'd rather be featured in it if given the chance. "Let's put it this way," Christina replied. "I'd rather be it you than me. So, hopefully you'll be in it. You'll make the book."

Britney Spears, Coverflow

Christina and Britney do have a long history together, with them both starring on the Mickey Mouse Club revival in the early '90s before being catapulted into superstardom by the end of the decade and continuing to dominate the pop music scene in the aughts. However, the two were often pitted against each other.

"When I was coming up, it was very obvious you know?" Christina told Jimmy in 2018. "Me and Britney were definitely—there was a Britney-Christina considered rivalry thing."

Indeed, she felt like they were treated differently in the press, especially after the release of her 2002 hit "Dirrty." "It's hard to hear yourself being called names," she recalled to Cosmopolitan in 2018. "I remember being hurt by these commercials on MTV, pitting Britney as the good girl and me as the bad girl. It's like, if I'm going to be demure and innocent, that's okay. But if I'm going to just be myself, I'm trouble."

And while Christina and Britney did occasionally take the stage together—including at the 2003 MTV MVAs with Madonna—their comments about each other in interviews fueled feud rumors.

However, Christina expressed her support for Britney following the "Gimme More" star's testimony during her 2021 conservatorship hearing. And after the 13-year conservatorship was terminated, Christina noted on The Enrique Santos Show that she has "so much respect and admiration" for Britney and that she "couldn't be happier for her."

"The Woman in Me reveals for the first time her incredible journey—and the strength at the core of one of the greatest performers in pop music history," a press release for the book read. "With remarkable candor and humor, Spears's groundbreaking memoir illuminates the enduring power of music and love—and the importance of a woman telling her own story, on her own terms."

As things heat up between Harry Styles and Taylor Russell, the One Direction alum has been sure to show his rumored flame lots of support as she performs on London's West End.

You'll simply adore this show of support.

Harry Styles was on-hand to see rumored new girlfriend Taylor Russell take her final bow as The Effect—the West End play she's starred in since late summer—ended its limited run in London. In fact, the "As It Was" singer joined the Bones and All actress and her castmates at a low-key celebration after the show, during which they were seen relaxing on a balcony together.

For the occasion, Taylor, 29, kept it effortlessly chic in a black maxi skirt, white tee and navy jacket, her hair pulled back into a sleek bun. For his part, Harry, also 29, painted a similar image, in a black jacket and white shirt, hair pinned up in a clip.

And this is not the first time the Don't Worry Darling actor has shown Taylor some love—not only has Harry attended a number of her performances over the last few months, but he was also there for her opening night back in August, with the pair looking especially cozy during the night's gala celebration.

And in the months since the pair were first spotted together in Vienna back during Harry's Love on Tour stop in the city in July, they've only added fuel to the romance fires with multiple public sightings—including a hand-in-hand stroll through London in late September.

Harry Styles, Taylor Russell

While Harry's had several high-profile romances, including those with Taylor Swift and Olivia Wilde, Taylor's kept her love life out of the spotlight. However, the Lost in Space alum recently opened up about what role trust plays in her personal relationships.

"It's been a big part of my life since I can remember, because I really want to live an open life and meet somebody and be real and honest and truthful with them," Taylor told The Face in an interview published Aug. 30. "You can't really live an open life if you aren't sharing of yourself while you ask another person to share of themselves with you."

She added, "But I've found it increasingly harder to do that, and I'm trying to challenge myself in that way right now. My experience the past couple of years, [with] people I've really trusted, things weren't held in a way that I would've appreciated them to be held. And so, that has changed things in me a little bit."

But Taylor also isn't letting her dating history hold her back when looking for love.

"If something happens, something happens, that's life," the Escape Room star reflected. "You are going to be hurt—that's the tax. The tax on a real relationship is the reality that you will get hurt, you will [have] grief, something will be lost at some point and that's OK. It's worth it."

Strictly Come Dancing is back for its 21st series, with a true broadcasting legend on the lineup.

Angela Rippon CBE is a journalist, newsreader and presenter. Having turned 79 on 12 October, she is the oldest celebrity to take part in Strictly in the show’s history and has a special connection to the series, having previously presented the BBC’s long-running ballroom series Come Dancing that gives Strictly its name.

Born in Plymouth in 1944 to a seamstress mother and Royal Marine father (the latter of whom she met for the first time in 1947 when he returned from the Second World War), Rippon was just 17 when she landed her first journalism job on a local newspaper. She continued at BBC local radio and, aged 21 in 1966, landed her first TV role for BBC South West.

She quickly rose up the ranks to become a TV reporter and hosted her first national news programme in 1974. After stepping in for Richard Baker on BBC One’s Nine O’Clock News during a holiday period, she was offered a permanent newsreading role the following year.

While Rippon was widely referred to as the first female TV newsreader, it would be more accurate to call her the first female journalist to regularly read the news on national TV. Both ITN and the BBC had featured female newsreaders over the previous two decades, but they hadn’t presented regularly on a national level. The presenter has spoken about her experiences of sexism while working on Nine O’Clock News. In 2019, she claimed that a “highly respected” male colleague – who she did not name – once unzipped his trousers and pretended to expose himself to her while she was reading the news live on air. Rippon said that she felt “disrespected” by the experience.

Rippon was married during the early years of her career, having tied the knot with engineer Christopher Dare in 1967 aged 22. The pair divorced 22 years later. Rippon’s foray into the world of dance began in 1976, when she performed a routine on the Morecambe and Wise Christmas Show. She returned the following year as a member of a chorus line and later became one of the hosts of Come Dancing. Airing from 1949 to 1998 over 424 episodes, the show saw members of the public and competitive dancers performing ballroom routines. It was relaunched in 2004 as a celebrity version, with the name Strictly Come Dancing bringing together the tradition of Come Dancing and the fiery edge of Baz Luhrmann’s 1992 film Strictly Ballroom.

Rippon continued to lead the coverage of a number of high-profile events for the BBC, including the 1977 Eurovision Song Contest, the general election in 1979, and the wedding of Princess Diana and the then-Prince Charles in 1981. Nearly four decades later, she would co-lead coverage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding for Australia’s Channel 7, returning in 2022 as a royal commentator at the Queen’s funeral.

In the world of entertainment, she hosted the first edition of Top Gear and quiz panel shows Masterteam and Matchpoint, and in 2007 became the host of Cash in the Attic. Over the years, she has presented many radio shows, including for BBC Radio 2 and LBC. She has released books for both children and older people, including guides on how to stay fit and healthy in old age.

As a result of her time hosting Come Dancing, Rippon has long had an interest in dance. In 2011, she competed on Dancing on Ice and took part in a newsreader-themed Strictly special for Children in Need. She remains a patron of the Old Time Dance Society and from 2000 to 2003 was the chair of the English National Ballet. However, her time at the ENB wasn’t without controversy, and she resigned in 2003 after she was accused by her deputy of “bullying staff”.

Before her resignation, Rippon denied the claims, saying: “It’s not true that I’ve been intimidating people. They asked me to stay on with other duties. I don’t think that would have been the case if they were unhappy.”

Now, Rippon presents BBC’s Rip-Off Britain and is a regular on Morning Live and The One Show, while also working as a stand-in presenter for GB News. She received her CBE in 2017 for her services to dementia care. On joining Strictly, Rippon said: “Having been a fan of Strictly since day one, and as a former presenter of Come Dancing, this will be quite an adventure for me. A scary one, considering I’m about to be 79. But I’m really looking forward to the challenge, and perhaps being able to learn to dance the Argentinian Tango!”
