The Big Bang Theory's second spinoff is unlikely to maintain Young Sheldon's best creative choices, even though these changes saved the spinoff.

SUMMARY

  1.  Young Sheldon's unique tone and style allowed it to flourish as a spinoff of The Big Bang Theory, winning over a large audience with its focus on character drama.
  2.  The decision to drop the laugh track in Young Sheldon was a departure from the traditional sitcom format of The Big Bang Theory, but it was a good choice that allowed for more serious plotlines and emotionally resonant scenes.
  3.  The next spinoff in The Big Bang Theory franchise needs to make similar changes to feel fresh and original, finding a new take on sitcom humor that differentiates it from both The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon

The Vampire Diaries contained many heartbreaking moments that hurt viewers when they aired, and to this day, they still bring tears to fans’ eyes.

SUMMARY

  •  The Vampire Diaries is filled with heartbreaking moments that still make fans cry even years after the show ended.
  •  Deaths and sacrifices played a significant role in the series, with characters like Lexi, Jenna, and Enzo meeting tragic ends.
  •  The bond between Stefan and Damon was at the heart of the show, leading to emotional scenes like Damon and Stefan reuniting and Stefan sacrificing himself for his brother.

The Vampire Diaries ended in March 2017 following eight epic seasons, and six years later, these ten scenes still contain the power to make some fans cry. The CW supernatural teen drama series featured many deaths, breakups, resurrections, flipped humanity switches, and so much more, so it was not easy to narrow this list down to only ten moments. Nevertheless, these are the heartbreaks that have stayed with us for years and will likely not be forgotten for a long time.

At its very foundation, The Vampire Diaries revolved around the complex relationship between two brothers — Stefan and Damon Salvatore — and their love for one woman — Elena Gilbert. Of course, the love triangle was a significant part of the show, but it didn't make up the entire story. Over the course of The Vampire Diaries' eight seasons, many moments overshadowed the drama of the Team Stefan versus Team Damon fight, including the ten following scenes.

Damon Kills Lexi In The Vampire Diaries Season 1

Although Lexi died in the first The Vampire Diaries episode she appeared in, her impact in those short 40 minutes was felt throughout all eight seasons. Whenever Lexi returned (via ghost form, of course), it was a celebration, and her and Stefan's reunion was one of the best parts of the series finale. So looking back on when Damon drove a stake through Lexi's heart in The Vampire Diaries season 1, episode 8 hurts a lot more than watching it when it first aired.

Jenna's Death In The Vampire Diaries Season 2

Jenna's death in The Vampire Diaries season 2, episode 21, was arguably the CW series' first major death, and it was a sad occasion, to say the least. Klaus, one of the more controversial characters in The Vampire Diaries universe, was Aunt Jenna's murderer (after he turned her into a vampire). And after this episode, Elena lost yet another parental figure. Her death was a turning point in the series, and no one could forget the heartbreaking moment Elena told Jenna to turn her humanity off so that she wouldn't be scared when Klaus inevitably killed her.

Elena Turns Off Her Humanity In The Vampire Diaries Season 4

Nina Dobrev is undoubtedly one of the best criers in Hollywood, and she put her talents to good use as Elena in The Vampire Diaries. But her best work came in season 4 when Jeremy died, and Elena was completely and utterly heartbroken. As sobs wracked her body, Elena begged to make the hurt stop, so Damon instructed her to turn her humanity off so that it could all go away. Of course, that would go on to be a terrible decision, which made the scene all the more tragic.

Bonnie's Funeral In The Vampire Diaries Season 5

Following Bonnie's death at the end of The Vampire Diaries season 4, Elena, Damon, Caroline, Matt, and Jeremy held a funeral for her in the fourth episode of season 5 (when Jeremy finally told them she died). Thankfully, Bonnie would be resurrected later on, but seeing the people she loved the most say their goodbyes to her is still painful to this day. They each left Bonnie something on a tree stump in the forest, and it was a hauntingly beautiful scene that would make a tear come to anyone's eye.

Damon's Goodbye To Elena In The Vampire Diaries Season 5

It seems as though the saddest The Vampire Diaries scenes have one thing in common — death. During the season 5 finale, Damon and Bonnie got trapped on the Other Side, meaning they had to say their goodbyes to their loved ones; for Damon, that was Elena. Unfortunately, she couldn't see him since he was on another plane, but Damon could see her, and Elena knew he was there. She begged him not to leave her, and Damon replied, "I don't have a choice, baby." Once again, Nina Dobrev turned on the tears, and her acting combined with Damon's words was enough to leave viewers in shambles.

Stefan & Damon Reunite In The Vampire Diaries Season 6

Elena was not the only one torn apart by Damon's absence following The Vampire Diaries season 5 finale — Stefan was also a wreck. He admitted as much during the final scene of season 6, episode 5, when he went to the Salvatore crypt to air out his feelings. Stefan spoke to his brother and said, "I'm not doing so great without you ... Because I'm lost, brother. I'm lost." Frustrated, Stefan threw a bourbon bottle across the room just for Damon, who had returned from the Other Side, to catch it. The two brothers, who had been through so much throughout The Vampire Diaries, embraced, and it seemed like nothing else mattered.

Sheriff Forbes' Funeral In The Vampire Diaries Season 6

Sheriff Liz Forbes was a part of two of the best dynamics in The Vampire Diaries —the mother/daughter relationship between her and Caroline and her friendship with Damon. So when Liz died, not due to some supernatural cause, but because of a very real and horrific disease, in the middle of season 6, the audience grieved alongside the characters. Liz's death scene was heartbreaking, of course. But it didn't hold a candle to her funeral, which featured Caroline singing, Damon giving a eulogy, and police officers draping the American flag over Liz's casket.

Caroline Destroys Her Mother's Letter In The Vampire Diaries Season 6

Following her mother's death, Caroline turned her humanity off in The Vampire Diaries season 6, which led to her carelessly burning the last letter Liz left for her. But when Stefan showed Caroline a memory of him with Liz, her humanity returned, and she was full of regret. Sadly, Caroline never found out what Liz wrote in the letter, which was a tough pill to swallow, despite the countless cherished memories she had of her mom.

Stefan Kills Enzo In The Vampire Diaries Season 8

Enzo wasn't the most beloved character when he was introduced in The Vampire Diaries season 5, and his sudden romance with Bonnie was unexpected. But Enzo and his relationship with Bonnie grew on some viewers. Unfortunately, just as the audience was falling in love with Enzo and Bonnie's love, Stefan ripped Enzo's heart out right in front of Bonnie. After giving Stefan the cure, Bonnie raced to Enzo and held his dead body in her arms as she let out a piercing cry that, as viewers found out later, literally opened the door between hell and earth.

Stefan Sacrificing Himself For Damon In The Vampire Diaries Series Finale

In the episodes leading up to the series finale of The Vampire Diaries, some fans were worried that one of the Salvatore brothers would die, and unfortunately, their fears came true. Damon was determined to be the one to make the sacrifice to ensure Katherine went to hell when Bonnie sent the hellfire back to its home. He even compelled Stefan, who had been turned into a human, to let him be the martyr. However, Stefan took vervain. So he gave Damon the cure and pushed him out of the way so that he could make the sacrifice instead of Damon.

Seeing as though a good chunk of the CW series centered around Stefan and Damon's relationship, it only made sense that one brother would sacrifice themselves for the other. However, that didn't mean that Stefan's death was any less tragic. And the final scene of The Vampire Diaries, with Stefan and Damon reuniting in the afterlife, made all the pain worth it.

A new report claims that Margot Robbie’s estimated $50 million payday for Barbie is actually far lower than what she will actually receive.

SUMMARY

  •  Starring and produced by Margot Robbie, Barbie has been a massive hit for Warner Bros., with $1.2 billion and counting earned at the box office.
  •  Robbie was previously reported to be making around $50 million for her involvement in the film, but Hollywood insider Matt Belloni now claims that this figure isn't correct.
  •  Belloni doesn't reveal how much Robbie is making from Barbie, but says that $50 million is "ridiculously low" and that the real amount is far more.

Barbie star Margot Robbie is actually set to earn far more for the film than originally thought, with a new report claiming that it's much more than $50 million. Directed by Greta Gerwig, Warner Bros.' new film based on the iconic Mattel doll has been a monster hit with audiences and critics alike. Starring and produced by Robbie, Barbie has been a box office sensation, with over $1.2 billion and counting having been earned so far.

After a report from Variety previously stated that Robbie was set to earn around $50 million for her role in the film, Hollywood insider Matt Belloni now claims on his podcast The Town that the actor is actually set for a much larger payday.

While Belloni doesn't reveal how much the star will actually be making from Barbie's massive success, he stresses that $50 million is far lower than the actual amount she'll be taking home. Check out Belloni's full comment below: “By the way, that’s low. That is ridiculously low. I heard it’s way higher. There was a Variety report that she’s going to get $50M dollars in Barbie, it’s actually more than that."

Why Barbie Has Been Such A Success

First getting its start back in 1959, Mattel's Barbie doll is one of the most iconic and recognizable toys in history. The level of cultural awareness for the toy is incredibly high, which means a movie about it is, right off the bat, presumably going to have something of a built-in audience. Making a movie about a recognizable piece of IP alone, however, is far from a guarantee of success.

Gerwig's unique take on the doll is part what has helped to propel the film to such great heights. Instead of doing a straightforward and by-the-book adaptation, Barbie still feels like a movie made by a filmmaker with a vision and a point of view. Gerwig's vision and the undeniable star power of Robbie and Ken actor Ryan Gosling worked in tandem with a genius marketing campaign from Warner Bros, which kept the film's plot shrouded in mystery and teased that the movie is for people who dislike the Barbie doll as much as for those who love it.

Of course, the viral "Barbenheimer" phenomenon has also played an indispensable role, with the shared release date of Barbie and Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer creating a level of excitement, engagement, and awareness that has massively benefited both movies. It remains to be seen if Robbie's actual payday amount for Barbie will be revealed, but the film's success is a testament to what can happen when talent, marketing, and luck all converge at the right time.

Jennifer Lawrence’s No Hard Feelings made $85 million at the box office, but does this haul make the raunchy comedy a success or failure?

SUMMARY

  •  No Hard Feelings made $85 million at the box office, but its opening weekend performance was lackluster compared to other films.
  •  The film had a budget of $45 million, with a significant portion going toward Jennifer Lawrence's $25 million salary. It didn't make enough profit to be considered successful.
  •  R-rated comedies, like No Hard Feelings, have been struggling at the box office in recent years, partly due to the rise of streaming platforms. However, it may find more success once it hits streaming services like Netflix.

No Hard Feelings is now on demand, but how did it do at the box office? This was Jennifer Lawrence’s first film after giving birth. She wasn’t even planning on working but said the script was the “funniest thing I had ever read” (via Good Morning America). No Hard Feelings is also her first big comedy, so it was a change for the 33-year-old actress.

Lawrence plays Maddie Barker, who is at risk of losing her house when her car gets taken because of a court order, making it hard for her to be an Uber driver on the side. She finds a Craiglist ad for parents looking for a girlfriend for their 19-year-old son to bring him out of his shell before college. In exchange, they would give this person a car. She takes the gig and finds it challenging to loosen the boy up, leading to many funny things.

No Hard Feelings Made $85M At The Box Office

No Hard Feelings only made $15 million on opening weekend. It went on to make $50 million in the U.S. and only $34 million internationally. That means the film totaled $85 million at the box office (via Box Office Mojo). No Hard Feelings came in at number four at the box office behind Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse at number one, Elemental at number two, and The Flash at number three (via Box Office Mojo). These movies also had already been out for one to two weeks, so No Hard Feelings didn’t exactly make a splash.

No Hard Feelings' Box Office Means Jennifer Lawrence's Movie Lost Money

No Hard Feelings’ budget was $45 million (via The Numbers), which is high for a R-rated movie. Lawrence’s salary for the film was reportedly $25 million. So a big chunk of the budget went to its leading lady. For a film to be successful at the box office, it needs to make 2 to 2.5 times the budget. The comedy only made 1.9 times, which means it lost money.

Why No Hard Feelings Wasn't A Box Office Success

No Hard Feelings made most of its money domestically. It did very poorly internationally. While the hope is always that a film does well at the U.S. box office, doing well worldwide is also essential for a movie's success. The other problem is that R-rated comedies have been having a hard time at the box office lately. Gone are the days of Wedding Crashers (2005) or The Hangover (2009). The industry was different back then. People went to the theater for those, but now streaming makes it hard for these movies to break through.

There was a concern before opening weekend that No Hard Feelings wouldn’t do well because it is an R-rated comedy. While Lawrence is a big name and a draw, most of Lawrence’s top blockbusters have been ensemble casts or Hunger Games, which launched her into fame. It’s unfortunate that her first foray into comedy wasn’t the success she would have hoped it to be, but that likely won’t affect her career. The actress has five upcoming projects already. So she’s jumping right back in after giving birth to her son, and this will probably be a blip in her career.

No Hard Feelings has a chance of doing better streaming. It’s available on VOD now and will eventually be on Netflix. Many people interested in raunchy comedies will likely find the film when it hits streaming. So while its time at the box office wasn’t great, its streaming life could see many people getting excited about it. Lawrence fans may even choose to check it out when it’s on VOD. There are so many more options for consuming content now, and big action movies or visually spectacular films are the ones that people tend to go to the cinema for. Otherwise, many people choose to wait until they can watch it at home.

While No Hard Feelings was not a success by blockbuster standards, it may be a turning point for R-rated movies that have struggled for the past decade. No Hard Feelings broke a record for the 2020s box office by becoming the highest-grossing R-rated comedy of the decade. It goes to show how poorly R-rated comedies have done and that maybe these fans are starting to head back to the theaters for these types of films.

The latest update about Matthew Gray Gubler effectively increases the chances of Spencer Reid's appearance in Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2.

SUMMARY

  •  Reid's chances of appearing in Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2 have significantly increased according to a recent update.
  •  While the BAU can function without Reid's intellect, his absence is missed for the impact he had on its storytelling and character interactions.
  •  Gubler's reunion with Joe Mantegna sparks optimism about Reid's return, indicating his potential interest in reuniting with the cast for the revival's sophomore year.

The chances of Spencer Reid appearing in Criminal Minds: Evolution may have significantly increased after the latest Matthew Gray Gubler update. As one of the only two stars from the original cast who was still in the police procedural when it ended, Criminal Minds was able to fully establish the character. Throughout the CBS series 15 years on the air. Reid had seen his share of tragedies, both in his professional and personal life. Thanks to his eidetic memory and deep knowledge, he played an intrinsic part in the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit's (BAU) operations. So he was sorely missed when he didn't return in Criminal Minds: Evolution season 1.

Despite Reid's intellect, the BAU has long proven that it can function without him. After all, solving their cases has always been a joint effort. However, figuring out Sicarius and taking down Elias Voit's network of serial killers. More than his contributions to the FBI, however, Reid was sorely missed for the other ways that he impacted Criminal Minds' storytelling. As someone who has been in the bureau for a decade and a half, not seeing him having interactions with JJ or impressing others with his genius. No concrete word yet about Gubler's return, but a new update effectively increases the chance of his Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2 appearance.

Why Gubler Really Didn’t Join Criminal Minds: Evolution

There's continued confusion about the real reason for Gubler's Criminal Minds: Evolution absence. Initially, it was believed that it was his decision to skip the revival after starring in and occasionally directing episodes of Criminal Minds for 15 years. His former co-stars have been nothing but supportive of this idea. Emily Prentiss actor, Paget Brewster even defended his choice to venture out with his career, citing that Gubler devoted more than a decade to the procedural. Subsequently, however, it was eventually revealed by Criminal Minds: Evolution showrunner Erica Messer that Gubler was actually interested in participating, but he couldn't make it due to a scheduling conflict.

Both reasons are totally acceptable. It's Gubler's prerogative to continue playing Reid in Criminal Minds: Evolution, and since he isn't obligated to partake in the show, no one can really force him to do it. If it's the latter, then his situation will simply be similar to Daniel Henney, who wasn't also able to return for the Paramount+ project as SSA Matt Simmons because of a previously-signed commitment. Regardless of the reason, however, the door remains to be open for Gubler's reprisal of Reid in Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2.

Gubler’s Reunion With Joe Mantegna Increases Chances Of Reid’s Evolution S2 Appearance

Since the news that Criminal Minds would be revived broke out, Gubler has not made any comment with regard to the project. He has remained quiet on social media, with barely any public sightings. His cast mates, on the other hand, have nothing but great things to say when asked about him during the press run for Criminal Minds: Evolution. Recently, however, he is seen for the first time with a Criminal Minds co-star, as Gubler and Dave Rossi actor Joe Mantegna share an adorable image of their reunion on social media. Even their other co-stars, Kirsten Vangsness and Aisha Tyler are both so happy about their reunion.

This sparks optimism that the BAU's golden boy will finally make an appearance in the next iteration of the Paramount+ project. Even if their meeting isn't anything related to work, it’s difficult to imagine that the idea of coming back for Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2 doesn't even come up during their conversations. Gubler looks genuinely glad to spend time with Mantegna, indicating that he would be interested in reuniting with his other cast mates for the revival's sophomore year.

How Gubler’s Reid Can Appear In Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 2

Since Reid has been an integral member of the BAU for years, Criminal Minds: Evolution still had to come up with a narrative explanation for his absence. Luckily, it didn't waste time addressing his and Simmons' mysterious whereabouts in the show. According to Deputy Director Bailey, while he wasn't at liberty to reveal where they were, he said that it's really up to them when they return to the BAU. The explanation is vague enough that allows Criminal Minds: Evolution to come up with a more concrete reason down the line. Considering the FBI's bureaucracy, it made sense that Bailey wasn't at liberty to divulge where Reid and Simmons were.

The most important aspect of Bailey's reveal was the confirmation that Reid and Simmon are still with the FBI. Simmons' absence can be explained since he was on a different profiling group before. Reid, on the other hand, has always been part of the BAU. Since both are technically still members of Prentiss' squad, Messer can simply re-assign them back to their former team. Perhaps Reid was simply busy with his teaching endeavors, hence why he wasn't able to join the hunt for Sicarius. Otherwise, he may have been pulled for a classified case. Whatever it may be, it shouldn't be complicated to bring both back in as full-time profilers.

What Is Reid’s Best Role In Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 2

There are several ways to bring back Reid into Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2 depending on the circumstances of his return. The simplest way to do this is to reinstate him back with the BAU as a full-time member. Essentially, he will just reclaim his old job and continue to function like before. The Paramount+ show doesn't need to make a big fuss out of his absence in its freshman year, considering that the behind-the-scenes reason for it has been well-established. In any case, it's safe to say that fans will understand if the revival doesn't dwell on it.

That being said, if Gubler cannot commit to appearing in all 10 episodes of Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2, he can take on a recurring guest role instead. He previously had a similar set-up during the last couple of seasons of the original CBS show, so doing this shouldn't be that big of a problem. Perhaps Reid can be a consulting profiler, which means that he doesn't have to be on-site regularly for a case. To explain this arrangement, the Criminal Minds revival can use the situation of Reid's mom as a reason for his inability to come back to work full-time.

Kristen Stewart and her fiancée Dylan Meyer are planning to exchange vows in a dream wedding, spilled an insider.

Speaking to Us Weekly, the source said that the Twilight star and the screenwriter are planning their nuptials “on their terms” and it will be a “perfect” ceremony.

Sharing more information about the lovebirds’ wedding day, the insider said that “it’ll probably happen this year.”

“They had planned a ceremony in L.A. but rethought it,” the insider said. “Then they planned a destination wedding, but things came up and it was put on hold.”

Stewart and Meyer got engaged in November 2021 after they were sighted publically in 2019. The news of their engagement was broken by the actor at Howard Stern show.

"We're marrying, we're totally gonna do it," Stewart said on SiriusXM's The Howard Stern Show. "I wanted to be proposed to, so I think I very distinctly carved out what I wanted and she nailed it. We're marrying, it's happening."

Almost four months before their announced their engagement, Stewart was spotted wearing a sparkly diamond on her left hand.

In an interview on the Today show, the Snow White & the Huntsman star said that she and Meyer had been keeping the relationship milestone a secret for a while.

“[Dylan’s dad] sent us an email congratulating us,” Stewart said during the show. “I’m like, ‘You were at the engagement party months ago!’”

In this week's episode, "Oh, Baby," tourists begin arriving in Hope Valley, including the St. Johns, who may prove to be trouble for Bill (Jack Wagner). Bill had been hoping to keep the hot springs the town's little secret, and more specifically his personal spa, but are all the tourists there for the hot springs or something else?

Meanwhile, Elizabeth (Erin Krakow) rallies all of Rosemary’s (Pascale Hutton) friends to plan the perfect baby shower, but will it go off without a hitch? In the Parade.com exclusive sneak peek below, Elizabeth tries to keep Rosemary distracted while the ladies set up the festivities.

One way to bring back Reid is to make him an unsub, creating a season-long case where his former teammates try to uncover his true identity.

Reid could also return as a consultant for the BAU, utilizing his knowledge and expertise without being a series regular.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT

Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2 has several ways to bring back Matthew Gray Gubler's Dr. Sepncer Reid. Just a couple of years since ending their 15-year stint on CBS, FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) is back tackling bigger cases on Paramount+. The freshman year of Criminal Minds: Evolution saw the return of the majority of profilers to take down a whole network of serial killers. Underfunded, Emily Prentiss had to work doubly hard to take on the mission, which they successfully finished. What makes this feat more impressive is the fact that they did it undermanned. The BAU was missing two members: Daniel Henney's Matt Simmons and Gubler's Reid.

The reason for Simmons' absence has been pretty straightforward. Because of Henney's commitment to Amazon's Wheel of Time season 2, he couldn't join Criminal Minds: Evolution season 1. Things are a little bit more complicated with Reid. There is still confusion as to why he didn't partake in the revival. Initially, it was reported that he didn't want to be in it, but later on, it was chalked to a scheduling conflict as well. Regardless, fans and even his co-stars continue to hold onto hope that Gubler will finally be in Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2. Luckily, there are several ways to seamlessly incorporate him into its storytelling.

6 Reid Gets Re-Assigned Back To The BAU

In Criminal Minds: Evolution season 1, BAU Chief Emily Prentiss works with a new boss — Deputy Director Bailey, who didn't like her or the BAU. It even seemed like he was undermining the team for his personal gain. In one of their tense conversations, Bailey mentioned how he cannot talk about the whereabouts of both Simmons and Reid, implying that they have been re-assigned elsewhere. Since then, Prentiss and his team had proven themselves once again at the FBI, giving them leverage to get their missing SSAs transferred back into the BAU as they move on to a new case, while also delving deeper into the mystery of Gold Star.

Showrunner Erica Messer revealed that they kept Reid and Simmons' whereabouts as vague as possible. She also emphasized that just because they weren't active in the Sicarius case doesn't mean that they are no longer part of the team. Both of the profilers are still valuable players in the FBI's BAU. This allows them to easily bring them into the fold without so much of a commotion once they can finally be involved in the Paramount+ endeavor. Keeping the door open for both of their returns means that at the very least, Messer and her team have an idea of how to incorporate them back into the BAU moving forward.

5 Reid Becomes An Unsub

Criminal Minds never confirmed if Reid has paranoid schizophrenia and never explicitly said that he is on the autistic spectrum. Despite this, a long-ongoing dark theory is that Reid has what it takes to be an unsub himself because of his traumatic past and implied mental state. If Paramount+ wants to utilize this in Criminal Minds: Evolution, it's also another way to bring back Reid into the revival in an unexpected way.

The BAU's pretty boy could be the suspect in a season-long case that would see his old team trying to figure out his identity. As seen in his stint in jail, Reid actually has the ability to be ruthless and conniving if he wants to. It would be curious to see more of that in Criminal Minds: Evolution and allow Gubler to try something different while reprising his most iconic role. Perhaps, it may pique his interest in coming back to the police procedural.

1 Reid Attends Will's Funeral

One of the biggest plot twists in Criminal Minds: Evolution didn't involve the BAU's Sicarius case. Instead, it was the revelation about Wil — JJ's long-time husband. In episode 4, "Pay-Per-View" he found out that he may have cancer. The narrative didn't really turn for the worst as many expected it to be. By the time season 1 ended, Will and JJ were still happily together, but Messer also subsequently warned viewers that Will isn't totally out of the woods just yet. Depending on how they will handle his arc in Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2, he can still die.

Aside from its immediate impact on her and her family, it's also a narrative opportunity to bring back Reid in Criminal Minds: Evolution. If Will unexpectedly dies, it's difficult to imagine that Reid doesn't at least attend his funeral, considering his close friendship with JJ. Regardless of the BAU profilers' divisive romantic arc, which was immediately dropped anyway, they chose to remain friends. Hence, he will do everything to offer her support during this massive loss.

Blake Gallo has quietly become one of the most important characters on Chicago Fire. He started off as an underling to guys like Casey (Jesse Spencer) and Severide (Taylor Kinney), but he’s really come into his own in recent seasons, to the point where Casey considered him part of the “old guard.”

Gallo has grown a lot, but there’s still lots of directions his character can go. Will he stick around long enough to explore these directions, or will he be absent from the action starting in season 12?

Is Blake Gallo leaving Chicago Fire?

Thankfully, Gallo, and the actor who plays him, Alberto Rosende, are sticking around. There are no plans to write the character off the show, and no mention of issues between Rosende and NBC. It is a wise decision on the part of the showrunners.

Gallo is a crucial part of the 51, as we previously mentioned, and his dynamic with Violet (Hanako Greensmith) has been a highlight over the last few seasons in particular.

Gallo’s presence is even more important in the greater context of Chicago Fire ensemble. Season 11 was a tough one for the show, as people like Casey were out of the picture, and Severide left without a clear indication of when he’d be back.

The season finale also hinted at the possibility that Brett (Kara Killmer) is going to leave the 51 to start a new life with Casey, and Mouch (Christian Stolte) could die as a result of a gunshot wound.

With so many other character’s fates being uncertain, especially main characters, it’s important for the show to keep the Violets and the Gallos in place. They may have joined the show later than their peers, but with the “old guard” transitioning out of the show, they are going to be the heart of Chicago Fire in the future. We’re glad Gallo (and by extension, Rosende) is sticking around.

Peter Mills left Chicago Fire suddenly. He decided that he was going to move to North Carolina to open a restaurant with his family in season 3, and he was never heard from again. This was tough on fans who had grown fond of the character, and there’s always been a contingency who thought he might return to the 51 at some point.

It’s been a long time since Mills step foot inside of the firehouse, so it would definitely be interesting to see him interact with the characters who were around when he was part of the team. That being said, we’re doubtful that Mills, and the actor who plays him, Charlie Barnett, will be returning for season 12.

Is Peter Mills returning to Chicago Fire?

For starters, season 3 was almost a decade ago. The character doesn’t mean as much to some viewers as he used to, and that’s not even getting into the fact that he would be seeing people who weren’t even part of the 51 team back then. He doesn’t know Violet (Hanako Greensmith) or Gallo (Alberto Rosende), so the emotional payoff would be limited.

There’s also the fact that Barnett has moved on from the show after a lengthy period of having a hard time doing so. “[The show] was a behemoth that I never really saw coming. I was thankful to be a part of it,” he told Digital Spy. “I really was sad to be let go. It broke me for quite a long time.”

The actor went on to tell the outlet that he eventually got over the shock of being written out of the show, and was ultimately thankful for the career opportunities he was able to take as a result. “It was a blessing in disguise, and they all told me that,” he recalled. “You never really see that in life, in general. You never see the bad moments becoming the good. It wouldn’t be. It wouldn’t be what it was, I think, if you did recognize it for what it is in the moment. So I’m thankful.”

Given the complicated circumstances in which Barnett left, we imagine that a cameo so long after the fact would lack the impact that a cameo would have in say, season 6 or 7.

What’s going on with Mouch (Christian Stolte)? The Chicago Fire mainstay had reached a point where it seemed like he would be out of harm’s way. He already had a health scare in the past, so he was the last person we thought was going to be shot in the season 11 finale. Yet, here we are.

Chicago Fire

Mouch was not only shot, but he continued to bleed out despite receiving medical treatment. His pulse was weakening as the episode came to an end, and based on the reactions of the rest of the 51, things are not looking promising. Is Mouch going to live to be in season 12?

Is Christian Stolte leaving Chicago Fire?

As we said, things look bad for the character. He’s getting up there in age, and Chicago Fire has a habit of killing off major characters during season premieres. There is, however, some things that lead us to believe that Mouch is going to pull through. For one, he’s a beloved part of the show, and Stolte has done nothing to suggest that he wants to leave the show, which has been the reasoning behind more recent exits.

Which brings us to the most practical reason: Chic
ago Fire is on the brink of losing some major characters. Severide is still elsewhere in the country, and until we get some clarity on when Taylor Kinney wants to return to the show, the character will remain in offscreen limbo. If and when he does leave, it will be a huge blow.

There’s also the fact that Casey (Jesse Spencer), a character who lives in Oregon, proposed to Brett (Kara Killmer), and there’s a strong chance that if she says yes she will leave Chicago to be with him.

From a practicality standpoint, it would be smart to keep characters like Mouch around until you solidify who is leaving and who is staying. We don’t want to see season 12 become the season in which all the characters we love get axed from the main cast. We’re going to follow our gut on this one and say yes, Mouch is coming back.

Chicago Fire

Chicago Fire has proved time and time again that it’s not for the faint of heart, for reasons ranging from the suspenseful stunts to the reality that the NBC drama isn’t afraid to kill off characters.

One of the most heartbreaking was the death of Brian Zvonecek, a.k.a. the lovable Otis. The character was part of Casey’s Truck 81 crew from the very beginning until he was one of several whose lives were in jeopardy at the end of Season 7, only for Season 8 to premiere and kill him off. Actor Yuri Sardarov has shared his feelings on Otis’ death, and why it was actually necessary.

The death of Otis was a tear-jerker at the time and no less sad now, if you want to revisit the Season 8 premiere streaming with a Peacock Premium subscription. Yuri Sardarov’s beloved character was injured early on in the episode, and Otis was dead by the first commercial break after regaining consciousness just long enough to say his last words (in Russian) to Cruz. Sardarov spoke with Tell-Tale TV about the fateful twist for his character back in 2019, sharing that he’s spoken with then-showrunner Derek Haas at the end of Season 7, and he continued:

Sardarov was still a very young actor when Chicago Fire premiered back in 2012, and spending seven full seasons in primetime on NBC meant that most of his professional acting career by the time of Otis’ death had been set in One Chicago.

When I spoke with showrunner Derek Haas about the character’s demise in 2019, he commended Sardarov for being “so gracious and professional” in agreeing to come back for the Season 8 premiere to finish off Otis’ story. The actor went on in sharing his own perspective:

Yuri Sardarov did actually return to Chicago Fire after the Season 8 premiere, although not because Otis was magically resurrected. Otis appeared in the midseason finale of Season 8 (which also featured the return of Monica Raymund as Gabby Dawson) via flashback, with Sardarov reprising the role.

While he hasn’t been back since, Cruz named his son after his fallen friend, and the memorial to Otis at Firehouse 51 is still standing. The actor did return to the Dick Wolf TV universe, however, with a guest appearance in Season 2 of FBI: International on CBS earlier in 2023.

We’ve known a Young Sheldon season 7 was happening for a long time now, and we absolutely can’t wait to see what’s in store next for the Cooper gang! Though the series is billed a comedy, it’s certainly more dramatic than its flagship series, The Big Bang Theory.

The Cooper family has a lot to deal with, and we see that more and more each season. The next one we’ve got our eyes set on now is season 7. Here’s everything we know about the next chapter of the story ahead of its release!

Has the Young Sheldon season 7 release date been announced?

CBS has revised their fall TV schedule following the actors strike and continuing writers strike. Young Sheldon will air reruns on Thursday nights instead of new episodes in fall 2023. It’s not yet known when new episodes will premiere. We predict it won’t be back this year, but hopefully we could get a January-March 2024 release date.

The WGA has confirmed that it will sit down with the AMPTP on Friday to try to put an end to the writers strike that has been going on since May 2.

Unfortunately, a Young Sheldon season 7 release date has not been announced yet by CBS. Though we are supposed to get the next chapter of the story in fall 2023, which is the regular timeslot of the series. Due to the writers strike by the Writers Guild of America (WGA), the new season’s release could be delayed. Or, there may be enough material for a number of episodes to come in the fall. Time will tell what will happen here.

Traditionally, past seasons have aired towards the end of September, except seasons 4 and 5 which were released in November and October, respectively. This was due to the pandemic. So if season 7 follows the same pattern, we’re expecting it at the end of September 2023.

Is Young Sheldon season 7 filming?

It’s unclear whether filming had started before the writers strike went into effect. But whether any filming has bene done or not yet, CBS has still chosen to push the seventh season’s release date. That probably means they didn’t have enough material to air the first few episodes that would have taken us into around December before the show took its regular winter break, returning in January.

Young Sheldon season 7 cast

We don’t have an official cast list yet, however we do expect the main members of the Cooper gang to return, as well as some of the guest characters that have been popping up in multiple episodes. Here’s who we expect to see back:

Main cast members:

  1. Iain Armitage as Sheldon
  2. Jim Parsons as the voice of adult Sheldon
  3. Zoe Perry as Mary Cooper
  4. Lance Barber as George Cooper
  5. Montana Jordan as Georgie
  6. Raegan Revord as Missy
  7. Annie Potts as “Connie”/Meemaw
  8. Emily Osment as Mandy McAllister

Recurring and guest cast:

  • Craig T. Nelson as Dale Ballard
  • Matt Hobby as Pastor Jeff Difford
  • Melissa Peterman as Brenda Sparks
  • Wyatt McClure as Billy Sparks
  • Wallace Shawn as John Sturgis
  • Ed Begley Jr. as Dr. Grant Linkletter
  • Wendie Malick as President Linda Hagemeyer
  • Dan Byrd as Pastor Rob
  • Rachel Bay Jones as Audrey McAllister (Mandy’s mom)
  • Will Sasso as Jim McAllister (Mandy’s dad)

One character we love to see all the time is troubled teen Paige, played by actress McKenna Grace. It’s not known yet if she’s going to be in the seventh season. The last time we saw the character was in season 6 episode 13, “A Stolen Truck and Going on the Lam.” Missy runs away from home and her friend Paige tags along.

What is Young Sheldon season 7 about?

We don’t have details about the seventh season and what it’s going to be about just yet. However based on the season 6 finale, we have a rough idea of where the story is probably going. Sheldon and Mary headed to Germany for his summer study abroad, so we’ll probably be seeing that. There’s also the aftermath of the tornado that hit Medford, Texas – which includes the complete destruction of Meemaw’s home. And finally, Georgie and Mandy decided to get married. Let’s see if they actually go through with it!

How old was Sheldon when his dad died?

Since we don’t know the plot for the seventh season yet, it’s hard to know whether the new chapter in the story will have a time jump. There’s some mixed reports on how old Sheldon is in season 6. But he’s either 12 or 13 years old. In The Big Bang Theory, season 7 episode 9, we’re told that George dies when Sheldon is 14 years old. So unfortunately, this storyline inches closer and closer.

How many episodes are in Young Sheldon season 7?

We don’t know an exact episode count yet, but we’re expecting the seventh season to be 22 episodes like most of its predecessors. The exception was season 4 that had a total of 18 episodes due to the pandemic.

Where to watch Young Sheldon season 7

Young Sheldon seasons 1-5 are all streaming on Max. Season 7 should hold the show’s regular timeslot of 8 p.m. ET on Thursday nights on CBS. New episodes will begin streaming the next day on Paramount+. As of June 26, 2023 only five episodes of season 6 are on Paramount+. The full season should be added to Max at some point soon.

Young Sheldon has a TV-PG rating, meaning parental guidance is recommended and the series may be unsuitable for younger children. While the story is pretty clean, there are some more mature themes that are discussed at times.

Is Young Sheldon season 8 happening?

No official news has come about a season 8 yet. The one big storyline Young Sheldon viewers are waiting for is the fact that based on the story established in The Big Bang Theory (the show’s flagship series), George cheats on Mary and he dies when Sheldon is young. We wonder if that will be part of the season 7 storyline.

Will there be any The Big Bang Theory cameos in Young Sheldon season 7?

Over the seasons, we haven’t had any cameos in person from the original cast members from TBBT, however they’ve done voiceover cameos. This makes sense as the comedy is a prequel to TBBT. The ones who made voiceover cameos are Kaley Cuoco as Penny, Simon Helberg as Howard, and Mayim Bialik as Amy. We would love to see more next season!

Is there another The Big Bang Theory spinoff in the works?

In April 2023, Max announced that another The Big Bang Theory spinoff is coming to the streamer at some point. A release date, cast, and synopsis have not been announced yet. The company hasn’t even made it clear whether the new show will be a prequel like Young Sheldon or a sequel to the flagship series. All we do know at the moment is that co-creator of TBBT Chuck Lorre is attached to the project.
